The Blue Valor Foundation

The Blue Valor Foundation is a Maryland, non-profit corporation dedicated to assisting the families of fallen law enforcement officers throughout the state of Maryland.

On August 28, 2013 Baltimore County Police Officer First Class Jason Schneider, a member of the county’s elite Special Weapons and Tactics Team, was tragically taken from his family during the service of a search warrant in Catonsville, MD. During the execution of the warrant, Jason bravely led his team into the residence where he later encountered gunfire and was mortally wounded.

Shortly after learning of this tragic event, members of the Baltimore County Police Department quickly looked for a way to assist Jason’s young family, including his wife and two children. Members of the department’s Firearms Training Team chose to orchestrate a golf tournament, dedicated to the memory of Jason.

The inaugural golf tournament was held on May 5, 2014 at Hayfields Country Club in Hunt Valley, MD. The tournament was a great success, attended by law enforcement officers and business professionals from the Baltimore area and beyond. Shortly after the tournament, several prominent businessmen contacted the event organizers and expressed a desire to make the tournament and associated cause, a yearly event. The Blue Valor Foundation was formed shortly thereafter. The foundation presents it’s signature event, The Jason Schneider Memorial “Salute to a Hero” Golf Tournament, on the first Monday in May at the esteemed Hayfields Country Club in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

The foundation currently has 8 board members (5 voting, 3 advisors) and meets monthly. As of April, 2015 the Blue Valor Foundation is a 501 c3, tax exempt Maryland non-profit.

The Blue Valor Foundation was honored today to be a proud contributor and supporter of the Amy Caprio Memorial Scholarship at Towson University. Through the generous donations received from some of our best supporters, the foundation was able to gift $10,000 in an effort to memorialize Amy so that her legacy and service to community will never be forgotten. The foundation will continue to assist Towson University in order to fully fund the scholarship for years to come!
Please consider a donation, no matter how small, to assist Blue Valor Foundation with our continuing mission to never forget our fallen brothers and sisters in Blue. Blue Valor Strong for Blue Families!

The Blue Valor Foundation is committed to honoring our Fallen Heroes in Maryland! This year's 6th Annual Jason Schneider Memorial "Salute to a Hero" Golf Tournament at Hillendale Country Club will pay special tribute to Officer Amy Sorrells Caprio. Amy made the ultimate sacrifice in May, 2018 while protecting Baltimore County citizens from criminal activity. Please consider joining the foundation and its supporters for a great day of golf and community on May 20 at Hillendale CC. If you are unable to join us, please consider a small donation to help us continue our mission to never forget Amy, Jason and all of our other fallen brothers and sisters in blue! Thank you!

Kevin Novak Mike DiPaula a bunch of us from the Associated Italian American Charities to which I have belonged since 1986 donated $500 each in December for a Towson scholarship for her, and we invited her family to the award dinner in Hunt Valley. Some officers on duty came as well and we invited them in and treated them to the banquet dinner. I’ll post some pics.
